Berlin - Gendarmenmarkt | The main entrance to the Gendarmenmarkt “WeihnachtsZauber” (“Christmas Magic”) Christmas market in Berlin. On the left is the Konzerthaus Berlin (concert hall, built as the Schauspielhaus theater in 1821). In the background we can see the Französischer Dom (1705/1785). Every December this landmark square serves as the site of one of Berlin’s most popular Christmas markets. All of the buildings surrounding the square were severely damaged or destroyed in WWII and later restored. Photo © Hyde Flippo
