Cicilienhof Palace in Potsdam

This former residence of the Hohenzollern dynasty, known as Cicilienhof Palace, was the site of the Potsdam Conference in July and August of 1945. Today you can tour the conference area where Churchill, Truman and Stalin met to plan the future shape of Europe following World War II. Potsdam was chosen because Berlin was so badly damaged that there were no suitable conference locations available. Today the palace houses a hotel and the Potsdam Conference museum, allowing visitors to tour the rooms where the conference was held in 1945.
