A reconstruction of the Column of Igel (Igeler Säule), complete with its original colorful decoration, stands in the courtyard of the Rheinisches Landesmuseum in Trier. The original 23-meter tall Roman sandstone column, dating back to the 3rd century, still stands in the nearby town of Igel (from the Latin aquila for "eagle"). The column is topped with the figure of an eagle, although it has weathered so much, it is hard to recognize.
