This is where the American Jesse Owens won four gold medals in track competition during the 1936 Olympic Games. The stadium today can seat 74,500 spectators for sporting events and rock concerts. The roof was added in 2004, prior to the 2006 World Cup football (soccer) championship games. The stadium is also the home venue for Berlin’s Hertha BSC professional soccer team.
