Burghausen - Altstadt

The postcard-perfect old town (Altstadt) section of Burghausen in Bavaria (Bayern) on the Austrian border. Burghausen lies on the Salzach River, the same stream that flows through Salzburg, some 100 km (62 mi) to the southwest. The green countryside on the other side of the river is in Austria. This photo was taken from the one-kilometer-long castle (Burg) high above the Altstadt.
