Hellbrunn Palace (Schloss Hellbrunn) near Salzburg is famous for its Wasserspiele (“water games,” trick fountains). The palace was built in 1613-19 by Markus Sittikus von Hohenems, Prince-Archbishop of Salzburg. The prince-archbishop had a sense of humor, and he enjoyed playing practical jokes on his guests. He always sat or stood in the one spot that would remain dry when his trick fountains spouted water. Hellbrunn Palace stands in a park that features a zoo.
