This C-54 “Skymaster” veteran of the Berlin Airlift stands on the edge of Tempelhof Airport along the Columbiadamm avenue. The explanatory signs (in English and German) state that this airplane was flown to Berlin in 1971 by the famous American “candy bomber” pilot Col. Gail Halverson. A nearby C-47 (DC-3) veteran aircraft was missing when this photo was taken in May 2008.
