East Side Gallery - the Spree side

This photo was taken in summer 2008 — from across the Spree River. Looking over the river from Kreuzberg, we see the back of the East Side Gallery which now stands in front of Berlin’s new O2 World event hall. The new facility caused a stir when the builders cut open a section of the Berlin Wall to gain access to the Spree. The many people attending concerts and sporting events here may also cause additional problems in protecting the 2008/2009 Gallery restoration.
