Hollywood Films Shot Entirely or
in Part in Germany (or Austria)
Made in Germany
Germany has always been a popular place for Hollywood studios to shoot movies, but in recent years Hollywood has more and more frequently decided to film and produce movies in Germany – for several reasons.

| The Ghost Writer was filmed at Studio Babelsberg near Berlin. |
Secondly, the German government has been increasingly willing to help finance films made in Germany, as long as certain conditions are met. Germany grants subsidies to a film as long as a German-based producer is involved and a certain percentage of the costs go to German companies. Tom Cruise’s Valkyrie (2008) was subsidized by the German Federal Film Board to the tune of 4.8 million euros ($6.5 million).
The lists below include British and international English-language productions that may or may not be true “Hollywood” films in the strict sense of the term.
