The Avenue of the 17th of June, as seen from the top of the Victory Column (die Siegessäule). The avenue’s name commemorates a workers' uprising that took place in the German Democratic Republic in 1953. Designed by British architect Sir Norman Foster, the Reichstag’s new transparent dome is open to the public until midnight (last entry at 11:00 pm). - PHOTO 9 | Reichstag Dome by Day - Sir Norman Foster’s Kuppel (dome) atop the Reichstag parliament building has become one of Berlin’s top tourist attractions.

- PHOTO 15 | View from the Dome - A view from the Reichstag dome. Visitors to the terrace that surrounds the dome have wonderful views of Berlin’s central district (Mitte). We can see the Spree river and the Friedrichsstraße S-Bahn station.
